Patent translation

The translation of industrial patents constitutes one of CTI’s most highly specialised areas of work. Over the years we have acquired extensive experience in – to name just a few – the electro-technical, mechanical, chemical, pharmaceutical and medical fields, in Italian and numerous European and extra-European languages; these naturally include the three official languages of the recent European Patent Convention (EPC): English, French and German.

For Italian companies intending to apply to the European Patent Office, CTI can, of course, translate the documentation and the patent into one of the official EPC languages; we also handle claims, objections and appeals to the EPO (European Patent Office) and the translation of patents for foreign companies requiring validation in Italy.

Everyone on our skilled mother-tongue translation team has specific legal and technical training. Moreover, thanks to utilisation of innovative computer aided translation (CAT) tools such as Trados and glossaries that are personalised according to patent type and customer, we guarantee fast delivery plus outstanding precision, uniformity of terminology, homogeneity and content consistency.

Careful assessment and management of translations ensures each patent is translated as per conventions, standards and customer-indicated specifications. Once translation has been completed we run a standard final QA check (terminology, format, spelling, special conventions etc.) and also, on request, more specific checks.
